Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word is made up of two parts: ‘Rei’ -meaning ‘universal’ and ‘Ki’ – meaning ‘life energy’. Reiki is a system for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing.
A Reiki Session
During a Reiki session, you will lie fully clothed, on the couch, in a comfortable position. Being seated in a chair is also an option. You will receive the Reiki energy either by direct contact of the hands on your head and body, or through the aura around the body, via the hands being held above you.
You may experience sensations of warmth, tingling, gentle waves or movement of energy, or you may feel nothing at all. You may feel emotional at times, or experience an emotional release. All of these reactions are perfectly normal. At the end of a session you are most likely to be left feeling relaxed and peaceful and with a general sense of wellbeing.
During and after a healing session, recipients report feeling relaxation, calm, deep peace and a sense of well-being. Benefits include stress reduction, improved sleep and increased self-awareness – all of which can have a huge impact on any illness.
As a Reiki practitioner I have been through an attunement process with a Reiki Master, which opens up the energetic channels to allow the Reiki energy to flow freely through me and be passed on to others.
Life force energy, or Ki (in Chinese traditions known as Chi) flows through energy pathways in the body, called meridians and through the chakras which are energy centres. It also flows around the body in an energy field known as the aura. Negative emotional and physical experiences lead to blockages in the energy system, which eventually turn into dis-ease in the body and mind. Reiki energy clears these blockages, allowing life force energy to flow freely, health and vitality to increase and the body’s innate healing abilities to come to the fore.
Reiki energy works on all four of these levels: the body, the mind, the emotions and the spirit, bringing balance and harmony and raising the vibration of the energy body. So it is suitable for anyone experiencing any physical or emotional problem. Reiki has its own intelligence and will flow wherever it is most needed in the energy system and body. Reiki will never cause any harm and can be used in conjunction with conventional medical and surgical treatments and other complementary therapies. It is not a religion, and no specific beliefs are required in order to receive its benefits, but it is spiritual in nature.
I offer one to one sessions which can be booked for thirty minutes or an hour.
